Delivery and assembly, sorted

  • Carried to the room

We bring it up the stairs and into the room, not just to the curb.

  • Assembly included

Shelves go on the wall, lamps get plugged in, and the packaging leaves with us.

  • Oiled, not lacquered

A natural hardwax oil finish: scratches can be sanded out and re-oiled at home.

A workshop of four

Oak & Thread is two carpenters and two weavers sharing a workshop in Burlington, Vermont. We build in small batches from air-dried oak and ash, and every piece is signed underneath by the person who made it. We’d rather make fewer things and make them well. A stool should outlive its first owner.

From our customers’ homes

  • “The stool is heavier than it looks and rock solid. The guys who delivered it even took the box away.”

    Tom W.

  • “Ordered the shelf and the lamp together. Up on the wall in twenty minutes and level first time. It looks like it’s always been there.”

    Rachel P.

  • “The throw is our dog’s favorite spot, which says it all. Washed twice already, no pilling.”

    Megan L.

Before you order

How much is delivery?

Free within 50 miles of the workshop and $40 anywhere else in Vermont. For other states, ask in the chat and we’ll quote it.

Do you assemble on site?

Yes, it’s included. We mount shelves, set up lamps and take the packaging away. Just tell us the wall type — brick or drywall — when you order.

Can I order a different size or wood?

Most pieces can be made in oak, ash or walnut, and to your measurements. Custom orders take three to four weeks.

How do I care for oiled wood?

Wipe it with a damp cloth. Once a year, rub in a thin coat of hardwax oil — a small tin comes with every order.
